EverQuest Trade Skill • Baking

Of all the "trade" skills in EverQuest, Baking is the most fun. At least, that's my not-so-humble-opinion. And there's finally a reason to do it! As of April, 2001, foods have different "durations" (amounts of time that they keep you fed), and some even have stat bonuses! It's also highly entertaining to be able to hand someone a Fruit Pie with a cute little lattice crust, or a Chocolate Cookie. And you can give a Dark Elf one hell of a message with a haunch of Blackened Tier'Dal, y'know? The ingredients are either cheap to buy, or you get them as loot from critters you kill, so it's not like you'll be dumping huge amounts of platinum into Baking. You can even earn the odd platinum making interesting foodstuffs for weddings and parties, especially now that you can make Wedding Cake, slice it up, and folks can right-click it to eat it up on the spot!

There are a few things you need in order to pursue a hobby in Baking: it's best to have a Spit to carry around with you for cooking on-the-go; if you want to make some of the more exotic dishes or advance past skill 135, you'll need some cooking utensils; and when you get to advanced Baking, you'll need a Mixing Bowl to mix up dough and chocolates. The webmistress there has put an enormous amount of effort into mapping where to buy trade skill components all over Norrath, as well as listing recipes for just about anything player-craftable. Of course I have my own table of recipes below, organized alphabetically by dish. I also have the same info in an Excel spreadsheet you can download. If you don't have Excel, you can use Microsoft's freeware viewer to see the spreadsheet and print it out (but not edit it). Since there's so many different things to make, and things in the game are tweaked all the time, you may see different trivial levels on other sites.
